2008 Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren
The Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren was jointly developed by Mercedes-Benz and McLaren Automotive. These cars were built in Portsmouthand the McLaren Technology Centre in England.They were sold from 2003 to 2009. When it was originally developed, German manufacturer Mercedes-Benz owned 40 percent of the McLaren Group.
Due to the automatic gear box, front-midengine arrangement, and its driving characteristics, some commentators classify the SLR McLaren as a GT, whose rivals would be vehicles such as theAston Martin DBS V12, and Ferrari 599 GTB Fiorano.
SLR stands for "Sport LeichtRennsport," which in English translates to "Sport Light Racing."Mercedes-Benz built 3,500 SLRs over seven years, with an annual production of 500 cars.
The car uses carbon fiber reinforced plastics to keep the weight low. The SLR features Sensotronic, a type of brake-by-wire system. The brake discs are carbon-ceramic, and provide better stopping power and fade resistance than steel discs when operating under ideal working temperatures.
The SLR features active aerodynamics. There is a spoiler mounted on the rear integral air brake flap. The spoiler increases down force depending on its angle of elevation. At a set speed, the spoiler/brake automatically raises to 10 degrees. When demanded via the driver's switch, the elevation can be increased to 30 degrees for increased rear down force. To improve braking performance, there is an automatic air brake. When engaged, the rear elevation angle of the rear spoiler is set to 65 degrees.
The SLR sports a 510 lb. hand-built 5.439Liter, supercharged, all-aluminumV8 engine. The cylinders are angled at 90 degrees, with three valves per cylinder, and lubricated via a dry sump system.The Lysholm-type twin-screw supercharger rotates at 23,000 rpm, and produces 13 psi of boost. The compressed air is then cooled via two intercoolers. The engine generates a maximum power of 617 horsepower at 6,500 rpm, and maximum torque of 580 lb. at 3,250 to 5,000 rpm.
The engine is front-mid mounted. McLaren took the original concept car designed by Mercedes and moved the engine 1 meter behind the front bumper, and about 20 inches behind the front axle. They also optimized the design of the center firewall.
This particular SLR was built in 2008, with a red/black convertible top, which is quite unique. The interior is completely trimmed with carbon fiber, and black/red leather.

2006 GDT Speedster
The GTD Speedster is a world famous, one-of-a-kind sports car, that was designed and built by a team of automotive professionals. Numerous magazine and newspaper articles have been published on this vehicle. It was awarded the Car and Driver Editor's Choice award at the Rolling Sculpture Car Show in Ann Arbor, Michigan on July 14th of 2006 by Car and Driver Magazine. It has been hand crafted, and the project was initiated as an exercise in engineering and styling with "no holds barred." This vehicle is fully engineered.
It was designed and fabricated using both state of the art CAD tools and conventional methods. The GDT Speedster contains more than 2,000 components that were designed and crafted just for this vehicle. The vehicle was completed in November of 2005. The GDT Speedster features a ridged steel frame and steel underbody that is fully welded in place. The body panels are molded from a hybrid of E-glass and Kevlar cloth with vinyl ester resin. The drivetrain, suspension, steering and brakes are from a 1994 Corvette.
2001 Ferrari 360 Modena Challenge
Based on the 360 Modena road car, the Modena Challenge was an extensively reworked track-only car, destined to compete in Ferrari's racing series called the Ferrari Challenge. The Ferrari Challenge expanded to North America in 1994 with a full year of races, and has been run every year since, making it the longest running series of its type in North America. This car raced during the 2003-2004 season. At the time of launch, Ferrari claimed the Modena Challenge accelerated from 0 to 62 MPH in 3.9 seconds.
In creating the Challenge, all traces of road luxury which are on the standard Modena were removed, totaling over 200 pounds. The suspension was extensively revised for a traditional fixed damping setup which was substantially stiffer and lower, reducing pitching and roll at the compromise of road comfort. Thicker brakes were added which could cope with the constant stresses and strains of the track. In addition, the standard road car's dashboard display was removed and replaced with an early monochrome LCD digital display encased on carbon.
1998 Corvette Indy Pace Car
This Crovette mimics the pace car used at the 82nd running of the Indy 500. Only 1,163 were ever produced.
